CRAMLINGTON BIOMASS CHP PLANT
At the end of September 2016, Redecam Group has appointed Expediting & Inspection Management for the supervision of the installation of a fabric filter, with lime injection technology, for a Biomass Combined Heat and Power Plant, located in Cramlington (Northumberland, UK).
The combined heat and power plant, whose EPC contractor is Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian (BWSC), is the first reheat biomass plant in the UK, as this technology is relatively new for a plant of such size (27.8 MW). With the reheat, steam is led through two heating processes and two turbines instead of usually one for an increased utilisation of energy, improving fuel efficiency and providing a higher plant output, which is both an economic and environmental advantage.
The Cramlington CPH plant is expected to generate 223 GWh of renewable electricity annually and to reduce CO2 by 56,000 tonnes annually compared to a gas-fired power plant.
